Mass. state legislature to the
Mass. state legislature to the people: screw you! That is essentially what has happened in Massachusetts. The legislature there
struck down a measure that would put a state constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage to the vote of the people:
"Gay marriage has begun, and life has not changed for the citizens of the commonwealth, with the exception of those who can now marry,'' said state Sen. Brian Lees, an East Longmeadow Republican who had been a co-sponsor of the amendment. ``This amendment which was an appropriate measure or compromise a year ago, is no longer, I feel, a compromise today."
Well, Senator, how about taking into account how the people feel as opposed to how you yourself feel? The people obviously want to have this initiative on the ballot. Why deprive the people you are elected to represent? This is a horrible day for democracy here in the U.S.
